Trius Winery at Hillebrand is not as grandiose as Peller but is still a major attraction at Niagara-on-the-lake. The two are jointly owned and so does a similar dinner. But after a day of wine-tasting and crumpet-eating, dinner could only be one course. The appetizer portion of scallops were oversized and perfectly cooked. Eating them reveals a dormant layer of pork belly underneath that transforms this surf and turf into a guilty delight. The whitefish is a seafood feast with deep fried crab cake and croquettes that remind of a Fisherman’s Warf. Wine country proves it can do more than press grapes.
